PTO shifter arm seals

Hi
Has anyone changed the oil seals for the PTO shifter shaft with it still on the transmission? Just a thought to save time.

It can be done easily enough that way; BUT you aren't likely to stop any leaking because the shaft is very likely scarred, rust pitted, and to have a few other imperfections. We rebuild lots of PTO units; shafts get replaced with new custom machined stainless steel ones, this does away with such issues for good as it never rust. Insures a leak free installation.
