  • M-37 Engine

Can anyone on here offer an opinion about a fair price for a running M-37 original engine? I have an interested buyer in my old engine, but I have absolutely no idea what its worth---any help?

I had a running engine that I tried to sell for $250 but no one was interested. I posted on the Power Wagon Forum that it was free, still no interest. Finally pieced it out. Sold the fuel pump on Ebay for $90.00, carb, generator, and starter on the G741 forum for $50., and the rest of the engine on G741 for 50.00.

Um, I might be your buyer if it's in decent shape. Wisconsin is kind of far though, might take more to ship it than it is worth!

I had one that "ran", it started up with out too much trouble but had no power. A check showed it had only about 80PSi compression, 85 with some oil in the cylinders. It cost more than the truck was worth to have it rebuilt to 100%. Just something for ya to ponder.
The one I had did not smoke and ran as smoooth as silk but as I said it was a whimpy thing, the engine in good condition is a whimpy thing to start with let alone one with low compression. I will never understand why the Army ordered them with such a weak engine.
Our Canadian friends ordered the same truck but with a little bigger engine, lucky them.

I sold a running engine with LOW compression about a year ago for $200 that was engine and trans together, no accessories or manifolds.

I am impressed by the fuel pump price.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

I was searching on Ebay for M37 parts and saw that the dual diaphragm pumps on these engines were going for good bucks. Since I had one that was on the engine and wasn't going to be used, I listed it and it sold for 90.00 after trying to give the whole engine away with no takers I pieced all the parts out. The pump I saw on Ebay went for $125.00 and it was used.
