Rebuilt Stock 251 Hard to Start

Had pro shop rebuild stock '55 M37CDN with a 251 last year. Also rebuilt generator and front to back wiring harness. Has run very well. Starts with a little choke no prob. Recently seems to be flooding while cranking over and I can't seem to get her to start smoothly. Once started, runs normally. It has also been very hot outside for some time. Will exhaust hot/cold valve affect starting? Any ideas appreciated.

I would assume weak spark. Is it points? 12 v? If 12 v I highly recommend a pertronics electronic ignition or a whole hei distributor from Lamgdons Stovebolt.

Completely stock 24V. Had generator rebuilt couple years ago.
