WC 3/4 Ton Windshield Repair

What is the secret to getting the windshield molding out of the lower channel on the inner windshield frame? I got it out of the uprights by sliding it out the ends, but the ends of the bottom horizontal channel have no outlets.

Also, what is the trick to removing the weatherstrip from the groove in the stamped steel lower valance of the outer frame where the frame meets the cowl?

Would appreciate any tips for reinstalling both as well.

I tried digging, sliding, chipping, and cussing at that old dried-up stuff but in the end I used an angle grinder with a wire wheel. Creates a lot of nasty smelling black dust but gets everything nice and clean.
