WC53 Tire Sizes

I’ve restoring a 1943 WC53. With the original rims what size tires fit the truck.

I’m looking for something slightly larger than the stock NDTs. What looks good and performs off road?

Is it correct to assume that the Tire Bead Lock is no longer needed in the tire assembly?

Original tire size on WC 53 is 9.00 - 16. Original wheels require tubes, flaps and locking ring. The entire assembly needs to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected for physical damage and corrosion, particularly in the locking rim-to-wheel interface area.

If you are not familiar with this type of wheel system, seek local help that has experience and a safetey cage to mount your tires and confirm the good condition of your wheels.

Does your truck have the original combat rims ( two piece with the bolt on outer ring ) if so then you could take them apart yourself

Both combat rims and split rims are original, with combat rims being used primarily overseas.
