Battery Box Changes
Good job on your doors Bruce.
Since your previous picture showed the battery box side I thought I would show some pictures of what I did. Compared to your door skins this would be a cake walk. Basically I spot welded two 16 gauge angle pieces to the inside area of the battery opening and welded the steele to them. That way in the future if someone wants to go back to original they would just grind out the weld (and get the old parts out of my attic). After grinding the welds I used a little fiberglass type filler and then went over that with a polyester skim coat to block sand. I'll show the running boards in another thread.

That's why the wife made me install a 2nd bathroom. This way I can keep my stuff in mine and she can put her stuff in her's. Now the kids just have to suffer and keep their stuff outside. HA!

Doing a wack of test fitting
Put the door on , take it off, tweak it.
Repeat 10 times.
trial fit the skin.
experiment with the bear claw door latch .
experiment with outside door handle that no longer fits
make inside door latch work .
hunt fot two hours trying to find the guts to the drivers door.
drive 18 minutes
look in home shop for lost parts for an hour .
drive 18 minutes and start to weld up the new door latch parts
machine bear claw latch to take a standard door bushing
finish the latch mounting hole and drill holes to mount
ponder why is there no template for this in the kit
contemplate chucking the whole thing in
start on the sheet metal for the topof the door (inner is done - the outside needs to be made to fit the new inner door)
go buy some little hinges
strip down a newer dodge door just to get the little bushings.
and it is time for a break

door corner detail
this is what the door latch looks like from a corner view . The door skin has not been folded over the door structure . The skin is in place so that the door handles and latches can be installed . I am also making sure that the parts can be removed with the skin installed. The bottom brown rusty look is from the soapy water rust mix that was floating on the derusting tank . It wipes off.Attached Files

[QUOTE=Bruce in BC;35666]Thanks for the picture . I wonder what part of the world that Carryall calls home .
I think it is in Abbotsford BC. If im not mistaken it belongs to a memeber of the local MVPA chapter there...I think his name is Brooke Quam
