    Scraps?

Hey Dave, Hard to believe it's the same panel?
Did you use purchased steel or dredge the scrap yard?
I have a commercial S/S table from da' trade, it's sturdy, but not to substantial.

        Bruce,

I bought 4X8 sheets of 14 and 16 gauge sheet metal. I can't recall if the wheel well was 14 or 16 now, but what I did was measure the steel with a gauge and then use the appropriate thickness as a patch.

I cut our an "arch" in the 4X8 piece to match one plane of the arch that was rusted out. Then, I cut a 1 inch wide strip and bent it to shape to fit at a right angle to the aforementioned new arch in order to make the piece like the original curved angle steel piece for the wheel well. All was tack welded in place.

          Ol Gray beard and John,
Thanks again for the compliments. I need to add a lot more pics to the image event site...been slow on that as I have been busy trying to get "Kirkwood" looking its best for its first rally in a few weeks in West Va.
I bought a trailer in August and so it will be a maiden voyage for truck and trailer.
The reason I call it Kirkwood is that it was the Kirkwood, N.Y. VFD brush truck for many, many years.

              Great job!

How inspiring to go through all the pics and write ups on your link Dave. Your truck looks awesome, I take my hat off to you!
This story needs to go into the PWA as a feature article, have you sent Gordon the material yet?

Thank you Jake, Charles and Horace,
                    Appreciate the comments.
I just got back from the West Va rally and that was a thrill. Beautiful weather, spectacular scenery and a lot of nice folks.
We had a nice trail ride in the mountains...could not bring myself to go in the deep mud, but it did get a little dirty!
I may do an article for the PWA on the bed or other parts of this project...would be a good winter thing to do.
The 4.89's Charles did for me are to go on my next project, an M-37 that will be more of a daily driver with disc brakes and a 4BTA I found that is a runner.
