I think I'm finally getting most of the unusual noises figured out and fixed in my '56 Power Wagon. The previous owner did great body work but did not focus on mechanicals, which I don't mind.
I am surprised how hard it was to find a shop to simply balance my tires... When I dropped them off I told the fellow here are my Prius wheels and tires, can you balance them..., He got a laugh.
This past weekend I installed a new clutch and re-worked the bushings in the linkages. Seems to be fine.
What I am not sure of though is how much of a racket do the 420's make at 25-35 MPH with the 5.89 gears? I'm pretty sure it is transmission noise, it goes away when I push the clutch in and cost. That rules out the transfer case I think.
It sounds like the syncro is making a racket when I'm cruising in third or fourth. I've got my old trans on the bench now to take my time and work on rebuilding that.
Thanks Wayne
