Its Mobile Again...

Here is a short video of my first drive in my 1955 FFPW. It hasn't moved under its own power for 25 years. I've owned it for just shy of 3 years. A lot of work done so far, and a lot more to do. However, it moves on its own again!

I converted it to 12v (still have the 6v starter), and Pertronix electronic ignition with a 40k coil. She starts in a flash and runs very smooth.

Sorry for the crappy video, its a brand new gopro (hero4 black edition) and I have a lot to figure out about it. This is the first video I've shot with it. Have a suction cup mount for it and stuck it to the back window for this vid.

I've been toying with getting a GoPro myself, for several years now, but have yet to pull the trigger. With another trip to Moab coming up, you have me thinking about one again.

I've been doing a little research/shopping on Amazon, etc. Is there a huge difference, picture quality-wise, between the GoPro and the GopRo 3 & 4? I see there are starter kits too...I assume they include a few basic mounting systems.

If your referring to HERO line of GoPro's, there is some field of view differences and resolution of snap shots, not video, at least as best as I can decode form their page: Camera Comparison

If you're not into 4k video, not much you can play it on, stay with the Hero 4 silver. It will do everything you need it to do and has a built-in view finder screen. That is a huge help in being able to frame your shots and view playback, without having to buy something extra.

Since these cameras are like computers, new ones coming out every 6 months to a year, I would stay with the latest version. You can't go wrong with the Hero 4 sliver.

Check ebay/amazon for mounting kits. There is a ton of them available with all different kinds of mounts, pretty cheap too. Read the Amazon reviews to see which ones are worth considering. Or, if you think you can get by with just a suction cup mount, buy it from gopro.

Here is another video I shot this afternoon. Hung the camera from the rear view mirror arm. Just a couple of laps around my neighborhood, exercising the drivetrain. Pretty boring but just playing around with the camera.

Neat! Very smooth and steady...that is one of the mounting locations I have been thinking about using as well.

The local Kawasaki dealership also sells Gopros. I guess I should pay him another visit. I see good used units available thu Amazon, with accessories often, at reasonable prices.

Thanks Greg! Yep, so far so good. It's going to take a while to get used to her. Just beginning to learn to double clutch, I can see this will take lots of practice. :)
