Thanks Gordon, I'll follow those leads. We probably won't get to this one for a while yet as we have to vacate our present shed by the end of Feb. We only have it on a temporary basis until the company who own it need it themselves (rent free too, gladdens me little Scottish heart :). The more info we can gather in the meantime could help us shorten the refurbish time.
Cheers
Bill

US-built one ton, and not the only one.....
US-built chassis and cowl, with locally-built back body.
I'll need Nollie to help out here, but either on the 39-47 Dodge Group on Yahoo or on the Maple Leaf Up Forum there is another of these owned by a contributor down your way (OK - mainland Australia - I know it is - large)
Technically it is no problem at all, but many of the bits are just slightly different from the much more common 1/2 ton stuff, such as six stud wheels, longer shocks, bigger brake linings, that sort of thing.

WD-21 Fire Truck
Hi gentlemen.
I've been searching for some information on a Dodge Fire Truck that we have in our workshop here in Geraldton, West Australia. Poor old girl is in a sorry state as the owner left it sitting on a vacant block only a few hundred metres from the sea for quite anumber of years. Nasty stuff salt air with steel. We've been holding off starting on this project as we lacked info on its original looks (and we're only in a temporary shed). Been searching for some pictures that can give us an idea of how she looked originally, but no luck so far.
BTW, we are not a commercial concern, we are a community organization where us retired fellas can keep ourselves occupied doing something constructive and not sitting in front of the tube vegetating :)
I have a bit of info off the compliance plate.
Model WD-21
Serial No 81207911
? HP @ 3400 RPM
Dodge trucks
Built By Chrysler Corporation
No date of manufacture on the plate
There's a second plate giving a warning about ensuring special equipment is disconnected before driving off.
This is gonna be a major contract. Any info you guys can provide will be most appreciated.

Hi Bruce,
I went back through the posts on the hubs, and the proto-types are for the 1 ton FFPW axles (or 3/4 T WC's?). The post I that I linked to earlier was just in response to someone on Joe's forum asking if he could modify the 1 ton design for the 1/2 WC's.

hjlaredo....
Keep those pics coming. I sure would like to come by and check out the progress and if needed lend a hand.
That Thunderbird logo has now gotten me to thinking about it's origin. I agree that it could have been from an indian reservation, which got me to thinking even more. Just outside El Paso, Texas is a mountain named "Thunder Mountain". The Indian tribe that was in that area are called the Tigua's. That tribe has been there for several generations, way before the Spanish came to North America. You may try reseaching on the native Indians of that location and within New Mexico. Another suggestion is to send a pic of the logo to the historical socitety in EL Paso and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Wish you luck and have fun on the restoration..

Too far from me at the moment, but it's always fun to see some survivors.
Thanks!

Eye Candy?'s

Here are a couple of links that may be of interest.

Looks like a great day was had by all.
I have seen some Texas National Guard markings from WWII that looked similar to the door logos. Maybe someone copied those as a goof, or???
Did you take any photos of those Jeeps? ....= )
Keep us posted as you go along.
sorry no decent pictures of the Jeeps, although there maybe be one or two were one of the Jeep pickups are shown, would you be interested in looking at those?
