Does anyone know where I might source those phony plastic clips that hold the actuating rods onto the latch assembly? Has anyone found a better way to secure them? Seems like those clips are just waiting to breakThanksDavid

Advance Auto had them in an assortment in the HELP/Motormite section for around $3. They're in a pack labeled for door linkage clips but they're the same.

As for securing them a better way, I thought of possibly drilling the rods for a cotter pin but they're really thin. I didn't have a drill press at the time. It was easier just to get new clips.

Thanks for the info. I thought about the cotter pin but you're right they are kinda thin. Also thought about threading the ends. If I can get the rods in/out without to much hassle I would consider threading

Ditto on the door clips. I got mine from NAPA. As long as the tailgate is adjusted correctly they seem to hold up until they get old and brittle. They are a PIA to replace though...
