Finally brought home the 1980 W400!

After almost 2 years, the W400 is in my yard! Nice rainy day cooperated for the tow home and unloading. I do have my work cut out, lots of 34 year old things to fix.

Is the T-case a 205?

Drop a 12 valve cummin's in it they turn out great. Just did a W400 1979

No interest in coal burning. The low axle gears kind of negate the mileage benefit of the Cummins. Also, I just swapped a Dodge D70 dually rear axle for a set of Thorley headers to aid in my rumbly exhaust.

What is the main difference between a W300 and a W400?

D60F and D70 rear, Frame height? Were they Cab and Chassis only?

The only thing I can answer is that I've never seen a W400 with a pick-up bed. They have had service bodies, firetruck or ambulance bodies, so I'd suspect all were cab & chassis.

And being cab and chassis, I believe the rear 70 would be a different length than the pickup version.
