  • 125 trucks

Begin planning on attending the 2012 rally in Fairfield, Iowa, as it is the 25th anniversary of the event.

Our goal is to have at least 125 trucks there.

Let your truck be one of them, or.... let your trucks be several of them!

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

I plan to be there with two trucks also.

It would be cool if everyone who has ever brought a truck to one of the previous rally would bring one back again for THIS one. This is a BIG one! 25 years will never come again. We have only one shot at this. We had approximately 110 at a previous rally, so 125 should be easy.

NOW is the time to make motel reservations, get that camper remodeled, or buy that new tent. Also important to let your employer or customers know that next June is YOUR time and off limits.

Dave Butler told me we had 116 at one of them. That is very close. Our goal of 125 can be exceeded......

I believe that was the 20th when we had the group photo around the dirt track. We need to do that again. I'll of course be bringing two trucks like always. You can never have to many Power Giants and Town Wagons at the rally. I'm working on getting as many trucks and people to attend as I can. With help from those attending we can come up with some activities at the fairgrounds to keep things interesting for all. Gordon have you decided which of your trucks will be at the rally and it has to be something besides your '01.

If it weren't for the geography between us I'd lend a hand with the door jamb issue on your Sweptline. Just remember it's better to work on them NOW than this winter in the cold. Been there, done that. I'm still looking for doors for the '01.

Gordon you live so close to Fairfield. I think you should seize the opportunity and take three trucks. Remember, they do not have to run or drive. We have been waiting 25 years for your collection to make its public debut......

I'll even volunteer to help. I am good at steering a Power-Wagon at the end of a log chain! :p

How about this? What better place than the rally to work on Gordon's truck/ trucks? More than one truck has been worked on under the open air building. It would take care of the repair session topics. There is plenty of experience on the grounds. It could be our own version of Overhaulin, Power Wagon style . Just a thought.

Clint and Ron, there is a plan that has been proposed by what shall presently remain anonymous parties. It is an outlandish plan, but could work. My present task is to evaluate the trucks to see just what all is needed. I am presently not revealing the details until I can fully evaluate the trucks and the realism of such a project.

My M37 would be the easiest, which is only a relative term. The W300 needs a cab, which I have. The B1PW is in some respects the worst. Inhabited by mice. I need to see if the engine is free.

All three need all brake cylinders and the W300 would likely need clutch cylinders. The B1 and the M37 need serious fuel tank work. The W300 tank is probably the best, though has had fuel sitting in it for ten plus years. It's a beauty contest for crocodiles regarding tires.

I may write about this in the magazine. I am thinking this 25th anniversary rally will be an absolutely incredible event, bigger than anything that has ever happened in this country, and certainly the world. We can make it that way.

I believe there is way more work there than most of you are guessing.
