I am also concerned that down here in the gulf coast area moisture is a problem and that may affect the adhesion of an epoxy coating.

Norm, what was used on the floor in the picture use have attached..? That's close to the finish I am looking for. From the picture it looks more like a sealant than the epoxy coating.

vcpowerwagon, I have not had a chance to check out the Scofield website. But I do intend to do so. Thanks for the info.

    Thanks again...

The epoxy, properly applied, should not peel or flake. It can be scratched and/or chipped, but other than that, it's a tough, chemical resistant coating. On an existing slab, we etch the surface first, for better adhesion.
The slab in the photo was "burned in" or manually trowled with a finishing machine until it is nearly black, basically over trowled. That seals off the top 1/8" and prevents "dusting" and acts as a semi sealer. It makes a slab look nice and it's easier to clean, but it will not prevent staining or absorbtion of oil spills etc. but it helps a great deal and it is permanent.

      Norm,
I can vouch for epoxy too. We used it to seal the concrete on our dog runs in the kennel wing we built in 1997.
For nearly 10 years the concrete has had dog urine, feces, chlorox solution from a pressure washer, etc, etc and it has held up great! I am a believer in properly applied quality epoxy concrete finish.

        .
If the epoxy can hold up to that kind of abuse, I am sold.
