    Smart move Doc, try the right stuff first. The corn head grease is a killer in the LU4 winches on the M37 trucks as oil actually flows through in them from 1 housing to the other via the drum shaft. This is the only lube the drum shaft bushings get in a LU4. Corn head grease will not flow in that application, thus is a bad choice of lube. However in the MU2, all the lube stays inside the worm gear housing and drum bushings are lubed via zerk fittings from outside. Corn head grease is still not the best lube, but is not the killer on drum bushings in the MU2 like it is in the LU4.

      Thanks for the info. I'm in the process of getting the parts of my winch refinished and then it will be ready to re-assemble, so I'll probably be giving them a call myself soon.
