No,
That is not correct for a M37 which uses the LU 4.
mu2 are used on the ffpw, however
it's different from that one.
I guess you could make it work with a lot of time and fabricating.
The top picture is a MU2 on a FFPW,
The bottom is a LU4 on a M37

lu2 looks like a more heavy setup. Can these winches change direction to spool out if things aren't going the way you want and you need to take tension off to re-rig?

Others may disagree, but I believe the MU2 is considered the more heavy duty piece.
You change directions with your PTO.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?
The PTO itself or the transmission wouldn't be the issue, since there is a driveshaft in between. The winch design and where the input is at would be the issue. That one appears to have a chain drive. I don't know enough to say what to do about that. After rereading your question I guess you're asking what PTO for the transmission, that I don't know.

Reason: reread question
yes that is my question, which PTO for wich tranny. there is a PTO on ebay says its off on an early power wagon. I am wondering if it would fit my truck. I have a lathe and a mill and can fabricate a drive shaft and mounts.
warren pa 16365.maybe, Im getting wishy washy about all this winch business. by the time I buy a PTO and a winch and hook it all up I think about how often I get stuck and I can always just bring the comealong or walk home and get the tractor or backhoe. It's just fun to get all the bells and whistles for my new toy.
well I found a winch in the local calassifieds for 200$. came off of a wrecked rollback. it is an 8k# ramsey. I plan on fabricateing up some brackets and powering it off of the side shift hoses for my plow, that way when the plow is removed I can just use the joystick in the cab to spool in and out. hope it has enough flow.
What a treat! We have been haveing a little heat wave it is gettting up into the lower 40's a couple times! so i finally got that winch off of my workbench and onto the truck. maybe tommorow I will hook it up to the hydraulics and see if it works. it was a tight squeeze and i had to shift it farther foward than i had planned to get the hyd motor to clear the radiator. wound up torching a hole in the back of the bumper to get it that far foward but hey it is on there.
