You may want to shoot your exhaust manifold with an infrared temp gun- you should see your highest numbers on the end cylinders, they'll run leaner. You'll want a gun that can read around 1000 deg, so you're not at the extreme end of its range.

If you go with a water heated intake, you'll want to plumb it into the heater core circuit, so it will see hot water before the thermostat opens. It won't be as quick a warmup as a properly working exhaust hotspot, but it's a lot better than nothing in cold climates.

shaved the head

I decided to shave the stock head eighty thousandths, I took it to the local machine shop, he felt that it might've been cut once before. To be on the safe side I went with .060. After re installing the head, the truck is a real joy to drive. It's still not fast per say, a little over 50 tops, but accelerates better, much less downshifting on hills, I'm really happy with it. thanks for all of your recommendations.
