You need to take what you have and marry it to this:

    http://www.vk-cars.com/default.asp?i...06&title=Dodge

There's a dealer in CA that can bring it in for you if you want it.

Thanks for the pictures, it's like looking at 6x6 porn. I do see you're point. Always up for ideas.

          Make lemonade!

I've held off making this post as long as I could.

I have three Dodge 6x6's. I have only one bed. It is complete and rust free. In fact, it came from Oregon. (See first photo)

I feel confident in saying that my having a 1 : 3 ratio of beds for my WC-62/63 projects may be better than the overall ratio of intact, original beds worldwide.

There are plenty of folks out there wanting to restore a WC-62/63 who cannot find a bed. Because there are so many trucks without beds, and based on some offers I have received for the bed alone, it appears that my bed is clearly worth about as much as a complete, running WC-62/63 cab and chassis.

I am in complete agreement with dad2nick. His photos show that there is no shortage of cab and chassis 6x6's that lack beds.

You have received some interesting posts offering to help you dispose of the items you intend to scrap for your project. Ahh, the kindness of strangers.

As one who considers the WC-62/63 to be the most special of all the military Dodges, I would suggest you follow the example of Bob Jones - a well known Power Wagon guy. He's my hero. First, he restored a WC-63 to near perfection. (See second photo)

Then he built the ultimate WC-63 trailer puller with cab and Cummins power. (See third photo)

The point is that you have the lemon - MAKE LEMONADE! Or sell the lemon to someone who will make lemonade before you screw around and end up with some peels and seeds.

It is your choice and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

            Keep it !!!

            TROUTS6X6,

I totally agree with Paul! I would advise you to not sell until you have really, REALLY, thought it through. I am speaking from my own experience. A few years ago I sold my WC51 and I kicked myself in the butt everyday for 4 years until the WC62 I now have turned up. If it isn't costing you anything to keep it or it is not a liability please be sure before you sell.

            There are pictures of my old WC51 and my current WC62 on Webshots at this link;

I've really enjoyed this sight so far and looking forward to my mag.
I have some thinking to do. I understand the importance of restoring a vechicle like this and maybe I'll get an email from you making me an offer I can't refuse-then again maybe not. I might have a line on a 6x6 that is just running gear but the problem is they all cost money and to make things pan out I'll have to sell something.

I don't want to ruin a piece of history but I'm more fueled to build the truck I want after seeing your pictures. I still haven't got it home yet so that gives me some time to think about things. Let me know if you have any good ideas on what to do or someone who might be interested so I could pony up for a less complete truck.

              Up for ideas TROUTS6x6

I'm going to have to see how much the other truck is going to cost and if its even avaliable before i can put a for sale sign on the complete rig.
I have to do some checking.
Give me a little bit to see what i can do. Thanks TROUTS6x6

                    Hi Trouts6X6,

Looking at the non-original rear Lug nuts/studs (those long ones), would you be at all interested in swapping some of those for the correct Budd Lug Nuts? I'd have a use for them.

I understand you have a lot to consider concerning the direction of the vehicle, but if you might want to swap, you can reach me at; cibicue@cox.net. Thanks!

                            I'm with the majority here...

The stripped cab / chassis with bed is as nice as I've ever seen (in that state) It's early too (commanders seat tells you that)

                            Either;

Sell the good chassis / body to someone who will restore it, and use the $$$ to fund your original intention with the rest of your stuff.

                            or...

Get the parts together to restore the good one yourself, which will leave you with something worth many more $$$ than a hybrid, regardless of how good a job you do of it.

There are a good few 6 x 6 with added cab out there, most built from parts that would otherwise not be used. A hard cab wouldn't suit that body anyway, so no big deal.

Just my opinion, of course, it's your stuff, but it would make a really nice restored truck...

                              Gordon's right

I have to agree with Gordon, you have a very restorable vehicle there. The cab and rear body are a very solid for a great restoration. It would be a shame for that truck not to be restored as a WC62/63. I'm sure it would be something you would be very proud of when finished.

Well you just about have me talked into a divorce. I'm going to go look at 6x6 with front sheet metal and a winch. If things work out I'll buy it so I can put the sheet metal onto the one with the bed. Before i do anything I'll get some pictures then some advice which way to go.

If i find the project is to big or want to do the closed cab more I'll have a more complete 6x6 to offer and still have running gear left over. I'm doing this because i do understand the importance of not destroying a piece of history if theres a chance to restore. I'm into older trucks just not the military ones. I'm learning.

I'll keep you guys informed and get some more pictures up. If i do decide to put this 6x6 back to original I'm going to need alot of advice and help on finding parts.

No doubt you guys will be helpful. Thanks TROUT.
