Started homebrewing beer...

...and I'm finding it very enjoyable. Made up a batch that I'll be bringing over to my friend's that are just about to move into their new home (built their own log house). I made these fun labels for them (I'm using 12 ounce bottles and re-capping them).




(I should mention that the original poster from this label is a WWII era WPA poster that I photoshopped)

A buddy homebrews and wins all sorts of awards. he says its all in the hops. spends his time and money reading and ordering from exotic hopp catalogs. Who would have thought that there are enough hopp types to fill a page, never mind a catalog.

just like this Power Wagon stuff. next thing you know you have magazines and parts catalogs. Can I bribe you to brew a batch of something special for the upcoming rallys? How about ,Transfer Case Ale? Lug Nut Lager? None for me thanks, however my Power Wagon buddies are known for their appreciation of a fine brew or two. Can beer be shipped legally?

Doubtful, especially across state lines. With all the state and local ordinances out there about all you can do is serve it to legal aged drinkers (free of charge) on private property, then your responsible (partially) for them getting home safely..Best to partake of it in person with the maker.

It's a great hobby. You can put as much or as little into it as you want, and almost always make better beer than you can buy. I've been brewing my own almost since it became legal again (mid 70s). I can't tell you how far the hobby has come, we're no longer tossing in small packets of bread yeast and hoping for the best!

I brew five gallon kegs and try to have a few on tap in the beer fridge. When I had time I was doing all-grain, starting from malted and roasted barley and fresh hops, but I'm out of time. That's a good 8 hour day from beginning to the end of cleanup. I'm back to doing kits that start with extracts, basically where the sugars are already extracted from the grains. Gives less control but is only a 2-3 hour day. Kegging is FAR easier than bottling, takes 5 minutes instead of an hour or two.

As far as shipping across state lines, it's legal for "tasting and judging," but not for "sharing." Most states you can't even take the home brew to a neighbors house, unless it's for "judging."

I'm extract brewing too, in two 2.5 gallon kegs. this is supposed to be a relaxing hobby for me ;)

FYI Saturn V moonrockets used two types of engines. Stage I used 5 Rocketdyne F-1 burning RP-1 (rocket propellant or highly refined kerosene) and liquid oxygen & developed 1.52 million lbs. thrust per engine...Stage II (and III) used 5 Rocketdyne J-2 burning liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen & developed only 200,000+ lbs. thrust per engine.....This buggy here needs a bigger fuel tank!

I appreciate the offer, but part of the relaxing hobby part is getting to come up with the fun labels. I used to enjoy doing this when we had the glassblowing studio (brochures, etc.).
