Hi all,

Just thought I would pop in and say hi.
I've been searching through some great material after a couple issues i've had.
One: losing my key and having to hot wire the truck lol
two: breaking my front axle on my 72 200

Anyway, thought it would be good to be a member to learn and hopefully help people out as well. My first car I drove at 8 yrs old was a 78 dodge diplomat 318. I had a 74 town & country wagon 440 through high school and now i'm onto my 72 200 for plowing. I just love the 318...gotta be one of the best motors ever made. I was also happy to know she's sitting on dana axles. Hopefully it's a easy fix since i'm a dead duck if it snows up here in new england.

So I just noticed I do not have a search option in my nav bar.
Do I have to have a certain number of posts or anything before searching archives? I'm just looking for what it's going to take to replace the knuckle, universal, and left driveshaft from the dana 44.

Finding a place to get these axles can be brutal i'm finding.
What happened to going to the parts store for things?
OH YEAH, everyone drives a toyota now so that's all they stock.

I also found a 86 F250 Heater blower motor fits right in there :-)
I'm starting to wonder what else from my 250 will fit in that beauty

This is the info they wanted:
Is your axle an open knuckle (you can see the axle u-joint) or closed knuckle?
If it is a closed knuckle, does the big ball seal use 8 or 12 bolts to hold it on?
What is the approx. length of each shaft from the tip of the spline end to center of u-joint hole?
What was the diameter of the u-joint cup?
Can you tell if the joint was retained by internal c-clips or external snap rings?

Good news, finally made a spot in the barn where I could work on the ol girl w/out being out in the -5 degree temps w/ wind.

Before I create a post I just wanted to throw it in here if anyone has there ears on :-)
I did not have to pull the ball joints and remove the knuckle to get my axle out, and it just slid right out. If that is what was suppose to happen, boy do i love working on this setup !!!! So the question is will the new axle slide right in once I can actually find one or will I end up pulling the knuckle to get the universal and everything else to fit?

Found a broken washer of some sort too when I first pulled the hub off....guessing it's part of the locking hub...which brings me to another question.
If I unlock the left but lock the right and use 4x4 should my right try to work or will it torque bias? I was getting nothing trying to get it up to the barn.
