Happy 4th, what I am doing today!
I am in the color guard of the local chapter of the S.A.R.
We were invited to participate in a special ceremony today honoring a local man named Thomas Stone who was a signer of the Declaration.
His home is a national historic site.
Here I am in my white militia uniform. After this was taken we shot our muskets to entertain the crowd.
The signers were true heroes of our country. They put everything on the line when they created and then signed the document. The Declaration was an act of treason against the King. If the British had one the war, the signers would likely have been all executed. As it was several lost their homes and fortunes.
