Among apple pie, politics, and religion, the least amount of damage has been done to the Back Room in the name of Apple Pie.

    Thank you.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

Momma baked a big fat apple pie for Tom to take back to St. Louis, but his trip to Des Moines was delayed by the blizzard.

It's one of those pies that's loaded with apples, sugar, and cinnamon.

Don't worry Tom, I'll eat it for you. I'll have a piece for you too Ron.

            Hi Steve,

It's not a Power Wagon. He did a deal with Camp Dodge on a military truck.

I thought maybe the truck was the '50 PW that was for sale over by Four Mile school.

                    Steve,

It seems that truck has been for sale for quite a while. It must have been two years ago, maybe more, when I first stopped in to look at it.

I don't remember the details, except that after I saw it I wasn't interested in buying it. Maybe it was beyond my skills and/or budget to get it on the road. Or maybe I mentioned it to Momma at a bad time. I can't remember which. Either is a possibility.

I think he puts it up for sale every so often when he is short of cash. I have not seen it up close but have talked to the owner before. It is supposed to have the winch with the extended shaft for a capstan wheel, and used to have the A frame on it for lifting. I think the capstan would be cool to have.

                          picture of new vehicle?

                          And tom,
I think you are a wise man to wait until fairer weather.
After all, look what happened to me a few weeks ago... The body shop estimate for fixing the CTD is $3500. Glad I did not drop the comprehensive on the insurance. I am only out the $500 deductible on it now.
I "almost" did not go out that night but was told the meeting was going to be held anyway...should have trusted my instinct and stayed home.
Boy those CTD's are not as good as the flatfenders on ice and snow!

I don't recall seeing the capstan, but I don't recall a lot of things these days. Chances are it has one.

If I remember right, it appeared to be rigged as an electricians truck. A capstan would make sense.

                              Apple Pie

How about a nice strawberry & berry pie?

Just sitting here reading about all the different pies, bring back memories of my Mom baking pie crusts for strawberry &berry pie.

Mom would get strawberries and blueberries from the little neighborhood store, H & M stood for Herb & Mary, bring them home wash them and slice the strawberries, she would then make the gelled sauce from sugar water and juice, top it all off with homemade whipped cream.

How I wish I could see Mom in her house now instead of in a nursing home she is 93.
