  • Off Topic, Diesel Jeep Petition

    http://jeepdieselpetition.com/press-release

For several years, the VM Motori diesel division of Roger Penske (now owned by Chrysler/Fiat) has installed diesel engines in the US for export to Europe.
The latest version is a 3.0 V6, lightweight, fuel sipping monster that gets 34 mpg highway and 28.3 mpg combined city/highway. This engine has 245 HP and 406 lb ft. of torque. More than the Cummins 5.9 had in 2003!

Chrysler doesn't think there is enough interest in the US to sell it here. Help us prove them wrong by adding your name to the list!
    Thanks!

I haven't the means to buy a new vehicle any time soon but I signed the petition anyway. I remember the CRD powered Liberty that was sold here only 1 year. It would be nice to have a bunch of SUV's running around with decent fuel mileage afforded by a diesel instead of the poor mileage they get running gassers. Not to mention diesels are better for the environment through their inherent superior combustion process.

      Thanks!

Jeep planned to sell 5,000 Libertys over two years, they sold 11,000 and ran out of engines... ;)

I signed it as well, for personal reasons, mostly because if I buy a diesel jeep, I will drive it the rest of my life, I like to have choices when buying a new vehicle, right now there isn't anything new I really want.

I got the petition a few weeks ago in an email, signed it right away. Guess it doesn't hurt to have high hopes.

The day before I bought my Cummins I test drove a 05 Diesel Liberty with 42K miles I was very impressed...so was the Dodge/Jeep dealer he had it at $15,900.00.Needless to say I left it there.I'll sign the petition.

..and that was the 2.8, the new 3.0 has twice the HP and Torque and twice the fuel economy, 34mpg.
                  Thanks Ross!

                    Hi Norm

                    Signed the petition.

Diesel is the only way to go if we can get these liberal politicians to go along!

                    Hope All is Well!

Norm, I signed the petition although I'm not that keen on the platform. I'd like to see that engine in a Durango though. But if we can get a foot in the proverbial door....

Actually, that engine IS slated for the Grand Cherokee/Durango Platform...IF they think there is enough interest for it.
It's important that Dodge owners as well as Jeep owners, or potential owners of BOTH, sign the petition!
                            Thanks!
