Pop's Passing

For those who didn't know, Pop was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostrate cancer that had spread to his bones last fall, and until a couple of months ago he was doing OK. Well, in the last week Pop's conditioned worsened, and he passed away this evening.
For those who knew, Thank you for your prayers and help. He will be missed, he's out of pain and in Heaven now.

First I’d like to say Thank You for all the Blessing, Prayers, Thoughts and Kind Words from all of you, it meant a great deal to me and the family.

Second, for those who didn’t know, for as long as I can remember Pop had me and my brother promise, that should the day come that he left this earth before the Lords coming, we were to make sure he didn’t have a tie on when they closed the casket, and that he didn’t want to take his last ride in a Cadillac, he’d rather go in his Dodge Pickup. My brother and I honored our Pop and his wishes, no tie and we took him to the cemetery in the 1946 Dodge Power Wagon, the Missouri Mule, or “Pop’s PW”.

Last Ride - 1st Flight

Taking that last ride in a Power Wagon was great; but just think of the flight he took to Heaven, that's the one that really counts. Will it is a great blessing for you and your family to KNOW your Dad had made preparations and took THAT FLIGHT out of here.

You will never cease to miss his presence. My Dad passed in '97; I still catch myself thinking quite often, now if he were here he would have been right there to help with the placement of something or to hand a needed tool, etc. I have wished a thousand times he could have been here to see what Steven (his grandson) has done for this business. He would have been SO proud. If I could only be half as good a Dad as mine was.

A recently read a book that really grabbed me. It currently is a NY Times best seller, and is in paperback:
To Heaven and Back, by Mary C. Neal, MD
This was written by a woman who is an accomplished spinal surgeon; she used to be the head of the department at the U of Southern California.
So, she is trained to be a scientist and skeptical.
Her near death experience is miraculous and amazing, and that is an understatement.
It gives one hope to read a book like that, about our loved ones and also ourselves.
