  • Some discounts for "experienced" members

Saw this and thought I'd pass it along to those of you who can use them. Gordon, If this is in the wrong spot or you don't want it here, feel free to delete. Kevin

    SENIOR DISCOUNTS

Keep this list and send a copy to your senior friends and relatives.

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 get 10% off everything on the menu, every day. Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too. This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.
This list may not only be useful for you, but for your friends and family too.

YOU must ASK for your discount!

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

I knew those discounts were around years back did not know they still offer them. Which is good information as I now qualify for most of them.
I knew there had to be something good about old age besides being able to tell when a storm was coming.

I find that as I have gotten older I have much more patience with situations that are deserving of patience, and I have much less patience for situations that are not deserving of patience.

          Kevin:

You are scaring me. I turned 55, and other than minor aches I don't feel like I deserve an old person discount. Am I old? Somebody told me no, you're not old, you are middle age. I told them bravo sierra. If I was middle age that would mean I might live to be 110. That is improbable. I was middle age when I was one half of 78....

This whole thing is of interest to me.
I read an article a few years back that said that in the not too distant future, people will more readily live to be a 100 plus and be in relatively good physical shape at that point. The big hurdle is not so much the physical part, but solving the riddle of demential and alzheimers; what good will it do to have all these people age 100-110 if their minds are shot?
The other thing the article touched on is that in this scenario, people could retire from their first career like usual, then start a second career and so on as their interest leads them.
That was appealing to me at some level.
Perhaps rebuild PW's, or work on the water in some way in career two?
