  • Pulled my M's radiator today to get the leak fixed.

Kind of looks like my M's taking a leak, but just draining the antifreeze so I can pull the radiator.

I pulled my electric winch in an effort to make the radiator easy to drain.

My M's V-8 behind bars, not not in jail, just radiatorless.

    Thanks,
    Will

With the use of two spray bottles (one with cleaner and one with water), some rages and elbow grease I cleaned up the front of the engine. I also touched up it's paint where there were bare spots. I also cleaned and painted the front axle housing that I installed last June while in Iowa.

Amazing what a spritz here and there backed up with elbow grease will do. Frankie will be standing tall at the rally this year. Thanks again for the company the other day.

Ron, Yea elbow grease is the secrete. I'm not sure it will be as clean for Iowa, if I make the April Event for a Test run. Glad to have been able to make the trip with you and enjoyed the ride and the company.

          Quick question:

I've got to drain my block as well, any tips on storing the antifreeze? Do you just keep it and re-use? Did you have to drain the water jacket as well?

I can't stand the smell of Anti-Freeze, so I store it in a clean 5 gallon bucket(s) with a snap on lid. If it's still clean and test good I'll re-use it, other wise I replace it.

I do the same thing Will. I'm not fond of the smell or the way it makes my hands feel.
I found a better source of five gallon buckets with lids than Home Depot though. It turns out that most doughnut shops get their batter and fillings that way. The shop I stop at occasionally sells them for $2.00 which beats $7.00 at H.D.
Once you hose out the sticky stuff, you've got cheap storage.

Good source. I buy my buckets from Rural King when they have a bucket sale, you get the bucket for free.

I use a 5 gallon clear plastic water bottle, the kind that the commercial drinking water companies supply for a water fountain. Two handy features are the screw top and the handle on the side. Plus the clear plastic shows what's in it and how much at a glance. Bought it new at Walmart, I think.

Got the Radiator back yesterday and installed it. The shop said it had one very small hole, but was very dirty. I suspect the freshly rebuilt engine setting for two years before being filled with anti-freeze was the culprit.
