  • Reflections of a Luddite

Does Facebook — and the like — really have any legitimate purpose? As I try it out, it is not clear to me it has real value. It sure can suck up a lot of time, however, looking into the purpose void.

    Discuss.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

Facebook was probably designed for kids in high school but I find it useful in keeping up with some of the people I went to high school with. I have gone to 5 class get togethers since March.

Since this is the year everyone in my class turns 40, there are more get togethers to come. I find facebook useful because I can post a message for everyone to see or send a message to a specific person without finding thier email address. People can post pictures, links, videos, do live chat, comment on people's posts. You can spend a lot of time searching for people too.

For me the purpose is keeping in touch with people whom I would only see every 5 years or so. The twitter thing I don't really get...

Perhaps we could simulate Twitter here.

                  You are just all a-twitter.

Personally, I don't care for them, but he thinks they are great.

I had an eight or nine year old girl here once who wanted to try canned dog food. I rarely feed it to my dog, but it is a holiday treat kind of experience.

She thought it looked and smelled good. She tried it and said it was not bad.

"It might be better with crackers," I said, offering her a package. She had several.

Too much plot here to be appropriately twitteresque.

                              I just heard a fly.
