After having to put our 16 year old Samantha mix breed down last Easter we
Adopted Sophie from a local shelter last Oct.
Year and half smooth Collie mix.

Is adjusting well to us and her new home.
Still working to get her to ride! She's not to keen on that idea!!

Ok, Bowser got his present yesterday. Build quality seems to be really good although the hook and loop straps are not as strong as they could be. The actual straps are good but the H&L system seems a little bit on the weak side. We used the sizing table on the and used a measuring tape but I think that small would have had a better fit than medium. Maybe I can change the straps.

At first he didn't want to wear them and tried to shake them off but after just a minute with candy as distraction he was ok with them. We took them on and off a few times and now he is coming and wagging his tail whenever we pull them out.

Going to work outside with the chainsaw this weekend, it will be the good test.

It was hard getting a good picture as it was meat in the kitchen which he strangely enough thought was distracting.

I've got two shop dogs and soon to have a third.
Mine is a standard poodle that I rescued last year who isn't a big fan of the noise so usually runs back into the house, but he comes almost everywhere with me.

The other one belongs to the better half and he is a pitbull mix that is one of the best dogs I've ever had. Goofy as all **** and one helluva attention *****, but great dog. We're adopting her dads Great Dane this coming weekend and I'm sure she will be in the shop with me. She apparently treads chihuahuas like little soccer balls and since one of the chihuahuas is a service dog for his new wife, something with seizure notification or something. Should be interesting

Wholeheartedly recommend getting a relatively young shelter dog though, both of my parents dogs are rescues, so are both of mine, and they are great.

          Supervisor

Bill - My shop supervisor (Kaito) is a Malamute. He loves to be wherever I am unless it gets too noisy. In that case, he finds a nice snowdrift outside to relax on :-)
The only complaint I have is he loves to play with tools and is very good at sneaking them away from me. Be sure to post a picture of your new buddy!

I will mention, because Tim probably won't, is that Kaito is also a rescue dog. After a serious fall in his shop, armed only with a snow shovel and his trusty sidekick, Tim managed to hobble from his shop, back to the house so he could drive himself to the ER. Way to go, Kaito!

              Shop dogs

This is Kayla, resting comfortably on the stair landing, where Sassy, under the running board, hasn't figured out how to climb the steps and interrupt her naps...

Bill: I'm certainly an animal person, and my wife is also completely converted to an animal lover now. The dog we have now is a rescue dog. I tell people he is so nice because Paula rescued him from the executioner 24 hours before his time was up.

She got this dog when I was in Iraq the first time, and I kept telling her to get a mean lean attack dog. A German Shepard or Malinois would be fine. So, listening to me like she always does, she got this goofy looking curly haired mongrel that I call an FLD. (Funny Looking Dog)

I get home from many months in the sandbox, and this goofy dog comes to great me, clumsily falling down as he arrives. I took one look at the dog and really had no interest. The first night I put the dog in the basement to sleep. The dog was crying, the wife was crying, and things were not well. So upstairs the dog comes.

The second night the dog migrated into the bedroom to sleep on the floor. Whatever.

On the third night, the dog ends up on the bed with his head on my shoulder sleeping and snoring. Yes, I fell for the dog, and he's been our best friend for almost the past ten years.

Dutch is now coming up on eleven years old. He weighs 74 pounds just like the first week we had him. He still goes out running with my two miles at 0530 five days a week. (except when it snows!) He tires more now, but for a bunch of old geezers we have a great time together.

You will know when the right dog finds you.

                      Wayne

PS: The FLD is actually a "labradoodle" but I can't tell anyone that since it does not sound like a guy's dog.... He doesn't shed, but he sure likes the woods and loves to run.

I know that between your PW and FLD, you were a huge hit in Annapolis- great picture!
All the yuppies there were instantly converted to PW wanna-be's I bet.
Also good story about the dog's migration to the master's chamber. Don't feel bad, that situation is so commonplace it is considered normal now!
Hang in there with the snow- we're enjoying sunny Florida right now ;-)

                                Doc:

Florida!! Wow. The snow is not bad. Just five inches maybe. Enough to make some gas money working driveways. As for the yuppies in Annapolis, yes, the truck gets a lot of attention. Last summer this lady asks me if it has electronic ignition. I said, "no, its the stock breaker/points system". She tells me good, since she was a "prepper" preparing for the end of the world, and if we have a nuclear explosion near by all the electronics in todays cars would be fried!
