Also got lucky and found what is in my opinion the only hood ornament befitting this truck. Was lucky to find one that was not pitted, and didn't have to pay eBay prices!

Had to clean and sand/ wire wheel anything above and around this area first then apply chassis saver on frame and brackets prior to install.

Thanks Matt, I wasn't expecting them to line up, things never happen like that....well almost never. Was planning to dry fit it and measure how far I would need to move the mounting frame under the step. Then I was going to pop the spot welds and drill and plug weld it in a new location. These took me the better part of the weekend so I was pretty happy about not having to do that last part. Here are some pics of the steps hanging, just put second coat of paint on.

Those running boards look great, I have had a heck of a time in the past with the mounting hardware, I have used a rivet in nut insert that worked quite well. Beautiful truck.

On the rear bumper brackets I can take a look in the yard and see if anything out there may work.

Today I tackled my stepside. My truck had a flatbed as a brush truck, and so did my parts truck. Both sets were cut at the back of the cab. I gave up on finding decent replacements, and came up with yet another work around. I took the passenger side off the parts truck and cut and welded it to the drivers side step. If anyone else is interested, it is possible. I used a framing square, made a line and cut the front a couple of inches behind the mounting framework. Took a measurement from my front fender to the front of my rear fender. Mine was 67 3/4". Then I cut enough of the mount frame work off of the passenger side from the parts truck. A hammer and flat bar popped the tack welds no problem. Then I measured the rear piece with an extra 1/4" so I could lay them together and do some grinding to match up my cuts as close as possible. Once satisfied, I ground down my edges to be welded and got busy welding. It turned out pretty good. The bonus was that after installing the hanger on the frame which I took off the parts truck and dry fitting it, the bolts matched up perfectly to the mount under the step and the bolt hole which goes to the rear fender also lined up perfectly! I couldn't believe it........I will take my victories when I can get them! Here are some pics......

Just returned from Florida where I did two glorious weeks mostly salt water fishing. Nothing like a vacation to make you truly appreciate home! Of course my current project constantly in my thoughts. Before leaving I shot the fenders, roll pan and tailgate. So was itching to start assembly. Got home last Saturday at midnight, and was up and in the garage by 6am. It's coming so I thought I would share some pics.

Are you using metal bed strips on your floor? I didn't see any rabbeted edges on your boards.

I also had to learn how to weld on my truck project. My grinder may be my favorite tool in the garage.

Had to teach myself to weld to put some solid metal from some doner bedsides into my 7 1/2' bed. I went out and bought an inexpensive mig welder 110v flux core from TSC. PICS.........
