Tom, I just call 'em like I see 'em. Hope you can help my man Steve. I don't know about the Wed change. Last years BBQ was good so I hope this one is too. Of course I have my favorite spot in Packwood but oh well. Anything is better than the BW for a closing night. I could go on but I'll let it go at that. Hope you can line up your 4 day pass.

Jay, thanks for the insight on the chicken. Is the place big enough to seat the entire group at once? We get a fair sized crowd you know. I like the t shirt.

Obviously, Ron, you never experienced the infamous Fairfield Country Kitchen. Be careful what you ask for. ;^)

Gordon, what were those long, hard, dry, cylindrical things they used to serve and pass off as food? Fish sticks or waffle sticks? I could never tell.

The Country Kitchen used to sell what were alleged to be waffles. An alternative application for those objects would have been to use them as dock bumpers. Quite resilient with respect to their physical properties.

Clint, I did go in their during my first rally in '01 and it wasn't bad. The following year I was very disappointed and then found out about the HyVee. I won't go into it here over the food at the Beat Western since it makes my angry every time it comes up. I'm a huge fan of Packwood Lions club's dinners. Last years meal on Wed night was good too at Olney. I hope it is as good at this new location. I always look forward to the pancakes at HyVee for breakfast.

2010 Rally

13 weeks and 3 days until the 2010 Rally!!! Register early - it's cheaper and I'm anxious to know who's coming. Saturday night will be a little less formal this year - hope everyone enjoys that (you're welcome Ron) along with the old standbys like the teeter board, pork chops and wiener roast. If you've never attended make this your first year - you won't be disappointed.

Luann, yes thank you for getting away from the BW. My wife catered for 20 years so I have a working knowledge of what it takes to feed a large group. The hash slinger at BW did not and after one rally a couple of years ago we got into a heated exchange via emails. I look forward to the new location and menu. I have been a proponent of the rally since my first in 2001. And yes I prefer Packwood for Wed night. I hope this new location can accomodate the size of our group all at once so no one has to wait to be seated. We'll see you in June. By the way I have those emails saved from BW should you ever like to see how they really treat their guests.

Mt Hamill Tap

The restaurant has a large dining room that seats way more people than have attended the Rally Wednesday meal over the past several years. If our numbers explode we'll have trouble - which would be a great problem to have! How cool would it be to have lots of new folks and people we haven't seen in a few years! The staff at Mt Hamill are very excited we're coming. Luann

Whoa there son back up a little. You have to have the pancakes at HyVee for breakfast with a large milk. A couple eggs over easy for good measure too. But the pork chops by the Iowa Pork Producers can't be beat I'll give you that. And it has to be the IOWA PORK PRODUCERS too.
